Finally, my wife and I decided to buy a car. All for the word "convenient". I have been working quite late and irregular hours. With a new car, I will have no worries fetching my wife and baby to and from work, in law place etc. Although recently petrol price has been going up (now should be $2.03) and more ERP gantires are coming up, but in the end the word "convenient" "engulfs" them all.
Ha! You may think I am trying to find excuses to buy myself a car....singapore has a good transport network..circle line is coming up, more frequent trains and buses....why buy car? Blame on the COE...the first bid for May 08 was 11K++. It was so attractive and tempting that I wouldn't want to miss it. After all it will go up again as the number of issued COE will be reduce..taking this good opportunity to get a good deal.
I have a tight budget ..and therefore only 2 models that my wife and I fancied. Toyota Vios (sports, S$51,388) and Honda Jazz (S$54,000). Initially, I prefer Jazz to Vios. Why? Country that is being manufactured. Jazz in Japan and Vios in Thailand. You know....quality, reliability and workmanship. My wife prefer vios because it has boot. Safety concern. Cannot made out our mind, we decided to drop by the two showrooms to test drive.
Both sales person from both showrooms are friendly. I have not been driving for 7 years, yet they showed confidence in me..heeheee..probably they scared stiff when I am driving..LOL!
Jazz is quiet, smooth drive whereas Vios has slighty nosiy engine initially...after some distance, it remains quiet. Both cars are comfortable and manageable.
The only surprise that I had is vios. I never expect vios to be spacious. In the past, I have this impression that vios is small from exterior and eventually for the interior too. I was wrong. It is spacious for a mid size sedan.
With careful thought and not much of a choice of cos..heehee..we decided to go for vios. The main reason we are more comfortable if the carJust a has a boot. More storage and feel more safe. 21 Mar 08 will be the second bid for the month May. Hopefully, the COE does not increase too much. Stay in the quota...heehee...wish me luck!
Just say Hi or horn to me if you happen to drive past me. Cheers!
